Special Tourist District at Bosan Dong
Design Art Village is a project to revitalize the commercial areas of the Dongducheon Special Tourist Zone in Bosan-dong, Dongducheon, which have contracted with the start of relocation of US troops to Pyeongtaek, by setting to attract workshops in the vacant shops in the special tourist zones. More than 20 craft workshops for leather, fabric, wood, hanji (Korean traditional handmade paper), and pottery have opened and the products from these workshops are displayed at the promotional exhibits located on the 1st floor of Bosan Subway Station to promote the special tourist zones to visitors. The Bosan-dong Special Tourist Zone has its unique regional characteristics nowhere to be found such as graffiti murals, flamboyant signs, and diverse foods. Design Village is Dongducheon’s hot spot where traditional merchants interconnect to make a Youth Street where the workshop functions in harmony with rock music through the city’s Design & Art village construction business.
