Samchungdan was built to honor three loyal subject Min sin, Jo Gukgwan, Kim Mungi who helped King Danjong to restore to the throne for 1453 to 1456 against to Suyangdaegun seizing the throne.

Min sin (? ~1453)’s penname is Dun-am and his family origin is Yeo-heung. He held two posts the Minister of War and Civilization in succession during under the sway of King Munjong. He was decapitated while he was supervising Hyoun-neung monument construction, during Kyeyu Revellion in King Danjong because he was considered as faction of Kim Jongseo. He was reinstated in the service in King Jeongjo and posthumous epithet was Chungjeong.

Kim Mungi (? ~1456)’s Ja was Yeogong, penname was Baekchon, and origin was Gumryoung. He had passed State Exam(in King Sejong) and became the Minister of Civilization through the Gumyeul, Jungeon, and Hamgil provincial governor. He was decapitated in 1456 because he participated in restoration of King Danjong and was reinstated in the service in King yeongjo. His posthumous epithet was Chungui.

The family origin of Jo Geukgwan was Yangju. He passed the civil service examination in 1414, became Useungji in 1441, Pyeongan-do provincial govornor(1451), Dongjijungchubusa · Daesahoen·Uchamchan. He had become the Minister of Civilization in the first year of Kind Danjong, but was depicitated during Gyeyu Revellion in King Danjong in 1453 because he was considered as faction of Kim Jongseo.
