Registration qualities for an alien

A alien who intends to stay in Korea for more than 90 days from the date of entry, one who will become an alien caused by marriage and selection of nationality, new born baby who stays for more than 90 days from the birth date, and an alien who will stay for more than 90 days by being authorized a change of qualification during his (her) stay in Korea.

※ Registration for alien will be exempted for a Canadian holding the qualification of D-1, D-6, F-1, F-3, or G-1 who will stay foe less than 6 months.

Registration term for an alien

  • Registration shall be done within 90 days for an alien who intends to stay in Korea for more than 9 days.
  • Registration shall be done at the time of authorization for an alien who is admitted with a stay qualification and an authorization of qualification change.

Required documents

  • Registration form for alien (Prepared in an immigration office)
  • Passport or certification of entry.
  • 3 photos (Size : 3㎝×4㎝) [Taken within 3 months recently]
  • Fee : Government revenue stamp of KRW 30,000.
  • Alien who has a certification of Journalist (D-5), Commercial(D-7), Trade and management(D-9), Professor (E-1), or Special activity (E-7) shall register his (her) organization’s Business Registration No. as well.

How To Get Here

  • By Bus : Airport Bus#5-3 or #3 stops near the UiJeongBu Immigration Office
  • By Subway : Get off at the UiJeongBu station on Subway Line#1 and use the exit#2.

Time to process

It takes about 5 to 6 days to issue an alien registration card before that an alien registration number is allocated per individual, book of registered alien is prepared, and the fact is recorded on the registered book.

Ordinary neutralization

A alien who intends to stay in Korea for more than 90 days from the date of entry, one An alien who has equipped with the following, i) one who has addresses for more than 5 years continually in Rep. of Korea ii) one who is adult pursuant to the Civil Law in Korea iii) one who has good actions iv) one who is capable to gain substance by his (her) assets or technique or depending on his family member, v) one who has a basic capability on Korean language and customs will be allowed to apply an ordinary neutralization.

Any kind of stay qualifications will be independent if the stay for more than 5 years will be legal.

Requisite documents for an application of neutralization

  • Document that certifies an alien.
  • Copy of alien registration card.
  • Fact certification on entry and departure from Korea.
  • Document that certifies self or his (her) family member’s capability to maintain
  • substance.
  • Recommendations from 2 people.
  • Copies of Korean spouse’s family census register and household register.

Neutralization through marriage with a Korean

Even that an alien has progressed a declaration procedure of marriage with a person with Korean nationality, he will not be allowed to get Korean nationality automatically, but he (she) will get the Korean nationality when he (she) will be given a neutralization permission from Minister of the Justice. An alien with his (her) spouse of Korean people and has equipped with the following, i) one who has addresses for more than 5 years continually in Rep. of Korea ii) one who is adult pursuant to the Civil Law in Korea iii) one who has good actions iv) one who is capable to gain substance by his (her) assets or technique or depending on his family member, v) one who has a basic capability on Korean language and customs.

And he (she) has addresses continually for more than 2 years in Korea while keeping the status of marriage with his (her) spouse will be allowed to apply a neutralization. And one who has passed for 3 years and addresses for more than 1 year in Korea while keeping his (her) state of marriage with the spouse will be allowed to apply a temporary neutralization. But in the case, he (she ) shall be stayed legally in Korea to apply the neutralization.

Requisite documents in application of neutralization

  • Document that certifies an alien.
  • Copy of alien registration card.
  • Select on e of the following : Self or the family member’s bank deposit certificate of more than KRW 30 million, duplicate of real estate register, copy of lent contract, certificate of employment.
  • Document that certifies the fact when he (she) has accompanied ones.
  • Recommendations from more than 2 persons.

Declaration of seal impression

Qualities to declare

  • Person registered with an alien.

Organization to declare

  • Gu Office that administrates the matters on alien registration.

Procedures of declaration

  • Declaration by person
    • Declaration of seal impression in person means that a filer himself goes to a competent administrational office, submits his seal impression directly , and declares requisite matters to prepare a seal impression book including permanent address, address, name, and date of birth. At that time he will be requested to describe the matters protecting his seal impression on a seal impression register such as a trusted issue
  • Declaration by writing
    • A declaration of seal impression by writing will be filed by preparing and submitting & Form of Annexed
    • No. 6 when one guaranty of adult will be required to establish.
  • Declaration of seal impression of a minor or interdict
    • A minor or interdict shall accompany with a legal agent when declaring his (her) seal impression directly since he (she) has no capability of legal execution or he (she) shall hold with an agreement from his(her) legal agent when declaring without a legal agent. The agreement shall have been sealed with a registered seal impression of the legal agent and a certificate of registered seal impression shall be attached on it when a minor or interdict will be different from an authorized office.
  • Declaration of seal impression of an interdict
    • An interdict will be allowed to declare his (her) seal impression but the declaration shall be done from a legal agent directly.
  • Application of protection of seal impression
    • One who have declared his (her) seal impression already or is going to declare it.
